Palladium Books on Facebook?!?!

Thanks to Quim's post for the scoop... it seems that Palladium Books has taken a step into the 21st century by creating an official Facebook fan page. Now they just need to update their horrendously outdated website! I'm not really trying to knock Palladium Books... it just surprises me when companies that have been struggling don't take advantage of free online tools like Facebook to help push their products. I for one am glad that Palladium Books has finally made the leap... even though I'd like to see a system revision (read: overhaul), I still love their products and want to see the company survive and thrive.

  1. Ha, ha, ha... Actually they didn't, they made 100 excuses as to why it's too hard. Then one of their fans made one in 15 minutes to force the issue. So the real question is will they use it at all. But as long as the fans are, I guess it doesn't really matter if Kevin gets with it or not.

  3. Actually, they did! However, I initially thought based on your comment that I had joined the unofficial page. Palladium Books actually "rushed" their official Facebook page because the unofficial page was already up. I didn't follow Quim's link to the Palladium Books message board, so I didn't really have a grip on the whole situation. Thanks for pointing that out, though.

Honestly, despite Kevin's assertion that Palladium isn't scared of technology, they sure SEEM to be. I can't believe they were planning to wait another 1-3 MONTHS before starting a fan page. Geez, it shouldn't take longer than half an hour even for someone without a Facebook account!

  4. Their argument was that they were waiting to have the official web site fixed, before getting into Facebook. It's not a bad plan, but with the opening of the unofficial Facebook page thinks rushed out.

  5. I understand wanting to focus on one thing at a time, but the big website redo is a lot more time consuming than creating a Facebook fan page. The Facebook group could have been up and running (and generating traffic/interest/sales/etc) for a looooong time with very little effort on the company's part. A Facebook group with loyal fans (of which Palladium has plenty) can essentially run itself. I'm just glad they finally made the leap! :-)
