I'm ashamed to admit it, but we've played several sessions since the last time I wrote a campaign log. I didn't realize how far behind I really was until I sat down to play this week, started to summarize the last session, and couldn't remember what happened. After a little memory jogging, we set off, but normally I can just load the blog and read what we did in the previous session.

After getting attacked by driders and exploding eye monsters, our heroes decided to track the drider that managed to escape. He led them on a winding journey through side passages of the ruined dwarf city, where the group eventually encountered four more of the floating eyes. A swift attack set off a chain reaction in which all four exploded together, but even after investigating the rest of the area, they still could find no more signs of the drider.
As they explored further, though, they entered a narrow passageway and were assaulted by giant spiders while the drider attacked from behind, catching almost the entire party in a lightning strike spell. Unfortunately, the creature escaped again, using invisibility spells to evade pursuit.
Tired of chasing the drider through unfamiliar passages, the group returned to their assignment, protecting the svirfneblin miners as they collapsed tunnels to seal off their lair from the driders and eye monsters. It took a week for the miners to safely collapse the eight tunnels, but despite attacks by mind flayers and giant spiders, the job was completed successfully.
With travel between the gnome city and the fungus garden protected, the heroes returned to Irzangle to inquire about the Shards of Day. True to his word, he drew a crude map of the city and pointed out the locations of all three blades - the bright blade in the undead infested dwarven burial ground, the dusk blade in the lair of the illithids, and the dark blade in the drow temple.
The group set off for the drow temple, and battled several guards and a gigantic umber hulk at its entrance. Temerith managed to cut off some of the drow force with a well-placed wall of fire, and then disguised himself as a drow to scout out the temple before the rest of the group entered.
|Sorry for the blurriness... terrible picture.|
Posing as a guard from the front gate, he claimed that he and the umber hulk had defeated the intruders, and he needed help cleaning up the bodies. When that didn't work, he accused other guards of fleeing rather than protecting the temple. With this insult, he managed to lure five of them back to the entrance where the rest of the group was waiting to attack them on sight.
As planned, the drow were caught off guard and retreated, suffering several casualties as they tried to get back to the safety of the temple. Blue chased one of them all the way into the temple itself, leaving the rest of the heroes behind, but slew him just in time to see reinforcements turn the corner right in front of him.
Next time, we'll see if the rest of the group can catch up before Blue is overwhelmed!
