Fate and Fury Games Hosts Magic Tournament to Benefit Doernbecher's Children's Hospital

Last weekend I had the opportunity to participate in a Magic tournament that wasn't just about playing cards and having fun. The card games were a ton of fun, of course, but knowing that a greater purpose was being served made the whole experience that much sweeter.

Joe, the owner of Fate and Fury Games, clearly has a heart for kids. I got the chance to talk to him both before and after the tournament, and I was impressed by his genuine support for Doernbecher's Children's Hospital. He and his store donated a portion of the proceeds from last weekend's tournament to the hospital, as well as accepted donations for the same cause.

To take it a step further, Fate and Fury Games is also planning to organize a group to visit Doernbecher's Children's Hospital. The goal? Teach kids there how to play Magic. Instead of just putting a check in the mail, this business is spending time out in the real world with the cause it supports, and inviting its customers to do the same.

That, folks, is the true spirit of philanthropy... not just money, but an investment of time and human connection. I'm proud to have played a part by participating in the tournament itself, and I hope to continue doing so when the opportunity to volunteer my time arrives.

For anyone interested, the list I played is here. And if you ever find yourself in Vancouver, Washington, I highly suggest dropping by Fate and Fury Games. Nice gaming space. Friendly staff. Worth a visit.
